Specialist real estate advisor Farebrother has acquired new premises for the Philharmonia Orchestra, one of the UK’s finest orchestras, in South Bank.
The Philharmonia Orchestra has acquired 6 Chancel Street, located in the heart of Waterloo in close proximity to the British Film Institute, National Theatre and South Bank Centre, where the orchestra is resident.
The building, which dates back to 1887, will act as the Philharmonia Orchestra’s administrative headquarters, and will also include a small rehearsal facility and library. The 5,352 sq ft virtual freehold was acquired for £2.15 million.
The Philharmonia Orchestra was founded in 1945, and has been based at the Royal Festival Hall since 1995 where it will play 35 concerts in 2013 / 2014.
Iain Malcolm, Partner at Farebrother, said:
“The decision by the Philharmonia Orchestra to acquire premises in Waterloo underlines that this area is one of Central London’s cultural hubs, with the British Film Institute, National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall creating a diverse, vibrant and appealing location for occupiers. We were delighted to act for Philharmonia Orchestra and wish them well in their new home.”BACK TO NEWS
