Union Street Partners, recruits CBRE duo as Partners

Union Street Partners has recruited two of the South Bank’s best known agents - Simon Smith and Rupert Cowling - from CBRE’s central London agency team as partners.

Simon Smith and Rupert Cowling were directors at CBRE, having previously been Partners at EA Shaw. Both have a combined experience of over 40 years working in the South Bank market.

Union Street Partners launched in April this year and is dedicated to the South Bank market. Both men will be based at Union Street Partner’s Copperfield Street office, just off Union Street in the heart of South Bank.

Since its inception, the firm has been resourced and managed equally by Farebrother and Tuckerman, with a senior management team of Julian Hind and Mark Anstey (equity partners at Farebrother), and Mark Fisher and Alex Lewis (managing director and director at Tuckerman), continuing their agency roles with Farebrother and Tuckerman respectively.

This dual appointment creates the first senior positions exclusively for Union Street Partners.

Farebrother has just announced the appointment of Neil Davies from CBRE as Head of Retail, and he will also be heading Retail for Union Street Partners.

Just five months after its formation, Union Street Partners has already secured instructions to let almost 400,000 sq ft of offices across the market. The firm is also advising on over 160,000 sq ft of rent reviews and lease renewals for both retail and office stock across South Bank.

Julian Hind, Partner, said: “These two appointments represent a major coup for this new business. Their experience and knowledge of the South Bank market is unmatched, and they are an invaluable addition to the existing capability of the combined Farebrother and Tuckerman team. Their entrepreneurial grounding makes them both a perfect fit for the firm and we’re delighted to have them on board.”

Mark Fisher, Partner, said: “The overwhelming reaction in the market to the launch of our new business has vindicated our commitment to this dynamic market. This strategic double appointment not only strengthens our current offering, but will also enable us to expedite the growth of the firm and establish Union Street Partners as South Bank’s leading specialist agency.”
